Software Technology

To remain competitive is necessary to reduce the cost of building new software applications and reduce their time to market.

Italtel has achieved this goal through a software reuse policy, both in terms of architecture and components, and by using up-to-date software development platforms, thus reducing the efforts necessary to design, develop, test and deploy software systems.

In the design of OSS applications, Italtel has confirmed the importance of a high degree of software reusability, by using the basic software infrastructures (e.g. communication, database, graphical user interface) that can be easily provided by the commercially available software development platforms (e.g. BaseWorX, HP OpenView) and identifying in a Support Platform all the common functions that can be reused in different systems (e.g. Fault Management, Configuration Management, Performance Management). Moreover, migration from traditional software technologies towards a full object-oriented technology has eased the task of building new OSS applications on top of the Support Platform, even in presence of legacy OSS that are managed by means of Q-adaptors and mediation functions.
