What is the Ethernet FAQ?

The Frequently Asked Questions list for Ethernet was compiled by readers of the comp.dcom.lans.ethernet list on the Usenet.

This FAQ is a compendium of responses to a set of questions posed by readers of the Usenet list.

Note that the Ethernet FAQ is old and out of date. It still contains some useful information, but the configuration guidelines are incorrect. None of the information in the FAQ is guaranteed to be correct. The FAQ represents the readership of the Usenet list: some of the contributors to the FAQ helped design the Ethernet system, others are users of the system who may not be aware of all of the engineering issues.
