The visuospatial sketchpad or scratchpad (VSSP) is one of two passive slave systems in Baddeley's (1986) model of working memory. The VSSP is responsible for the manipulation and temporary storage of visual and spatial information. To date, more is known about the second slave system, the articulatory loop, than about visual coding in memory.
